Welcome to Digital Photograpy I!

Welcome to Digital Photography!  Take a moment to watch the how to post to the blog video linked in the upper right side.  It is important that you respond to the email blogger sent you in order to join the blog.  Click on the link and join the class blog.  Don't create your on blog as this will make it harder to join the class blog. Only members can post and comment here. Class runs from Jan 2nd. - Jan. 19th, 2024

Once you get going, you will see thatusing this blog for class is easy and intuitive... and so much nicer looking than the eLearning shell.  Albertus is a Google Apps for Education campus, and Blogger is one of the apps available to you.

This class will move very fast.  There are 6 assignments in all, 2 per week.  For each assignment, you need to shoot a minimum of 50 images, posted to a folder in Google Drive.  Edit these down to your best 6-10 images and placed in a sub folder. Begin by posting a bio with a photo here.  Please state what camera you will be using.  If a phone, state the model. Download and install Photoshop using your Albertus credentials.  (link above). You should have either a Windows pc or laptop or a Mac desktop or laptop.  A chrome book can't run Photoshop.  You can work on any computer at Albertus if you need to.

I take attendance from the posts to this blog.  It is important to keep up to date with your posts.  Deadlines are listed in the syllabus.

Read through the assignments in the syllabus. This is your daily roadmap.  Use Google images to get ideas for your work.  The first assignment, Introduction to Composition asks you to think about finding geometry in your compositions using the built environment (not nature)  Here is a good short tutorial on the subject.

This is a workshop class.  To succeed, you need to save 6-10 of your best pieces, edited in Photoshop for light and focal point for each assignment in your Google Drive folder that is shared with me. All 50 or more of the images shot for each assignment are also posted in your Drive.  Post 2 or 3 of them here on the blog.  I take attendance each Monday and Thursday morning from work posted here on the blog. If you miss a post, then there will be two absences recorded.  At 4 absences, the college will withdraw you from the class.

I comment on each and every post.  This serves as your feedback.  I want you to have fun with this class.  Looking forward to working with you! Prof. Nevins
