Paul Piorkowski - Assignment 2: Reflections on Water 1/5/24

Hello! This assignment was about capturing reflections in water. I found a lake near me and took some pics there, but because of the snow, the pics were very monocolored so I worked as best I could with what I had. I also did a bit of experimenting with the photoshop filter library as opposed to working solely in the image tab this time, and also tried out the posterize effect to see how it turned out. There wasn't much to photograph where I was though, so a lot of pictures were very repetitive. Because of that, I chose what I felt were the six most diverse pictures I took and worked with them as best I could. I also made the decision that for every assignment where we work with nature, I'm going to make at least one picture look old.

  1. My favorite is the 2nd one down. I like how the structure of the railings is reflected in and distorted by the rippling water. The bottom one is intriguing for its utter simplicity. In general I'd like eveyone to concentrate on "straight" photography and not edit for special effects like pushing the color around to extremes, etc. Going sepia as in the top one is okay. I am all about a rich range of tonality and a focal point where light is gatheres, however subltly, and no clipped or blown out tones.
